Alberto Gonzalez - Professor of Communication at BGSU. He has published five books and numerous articles on communication & culture. His most recent publication is Our Voices: Essays in Culture, Ethnicity, and Communication, 5th Edition (Oxford University Press). Al is the President of the SQACC Board of Trustees.

Arturo M. Quintero - Married to Gail Marie Quintero. Initially married to Sofia Alfaro Quintero, who passed away June 21, 1994. Sofia and Arturo have a son, Joaquin de la Sierra Sol Quintero, who is currently on active duty with the U.S. Navy and stationed in Williamsburg, VA. Arturo is employed by the City of Toledo as an assistant prosecutor in Municipal Court. He belongs to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and serves as the Treasurer of the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center.

Duane Rodriguez Winter – Duane is the SQACC Secretary.  He has been a member of the SQACC board for 2 years and supporter of SQACC since its inception. Firm believer in the power embodied in the Latino/Latina community. Duane has been involved in community mental health for over 20 years; currently working as a psychiatric contractor for Family Services of NW Ohio.

Joe Balderas- Joe has been the Executive Director of the Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center for the past five years and prior to that he was the first board chairman. He is also a community activist who serves on several community boards. Joe has been very instrumental in forming partnerships with organizations, businesses and individuals. These partnerships have helped in moving SQACC forward. In the summer, you can find Joe and teens busy working in the many community gardens that SQACC oversees.

Lourdes Santiago - Lourdes is a Senior Attorney for the City of Toledo. Lourdes has been involved with the Sofía Quintero Art & Cultural Center for many years and now serves as the organization's Vice President.


María Rodriguez Winter - Current President of Marguez LLC and owner of La Galería de las Americas. She has been involved with the Latino community for 40 years. Founder of MECHA now called LSU (Latino Student Union) at the University of Toledo and co-founder of the Sofía Quintero Art and Cultural Center. María is on the board of the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo and board member Emeritus at SQACC.

Martha Delgado- Martha is a first generation Mexican American. Her parents settled in Northwest Ohio in 1917. After receiving a BA from Mary Manse College, she worked with the Toledo Diocese Department for the Spanish Speaking, the Mexican American Curriculum Office with the Toledo Public Schools and directed a seasonal migrant day care center. After completing a Master in Social Work from the University of Michigan she worked as a medical social worker at the former Guadalupe Health Clinic and Toledo Hospital; and as a clinical therapist at various community mental health centers, the University of Toledo Counseling Center and in private practice. Presently she is the Field Director for the Social Work Dept. at the University of Toledo. 

Melanie Grohowski - Center Executive at the South YMCA at Morse Center. Melanie began her career with the South YMCA 21 years ago as a Nursery Attendant and Lifeguard. After college she began working professionally for the YMCA of Greater Toledo and was proud to return to the South Y. She is excited to join the board at Sofía Quintero Art and Cultural Center!

Milva Valenzuela Wagner – Milva is the Development/Grants Coordinator of the Sofía Quintero Art & Cultural Center. She has been involved with SQACC for many years, serving on the Board of Directors from 2004-2008. Milva has about 20 years of fund raising experience working mostly for institutions of higher education. She lives in Toledo with her husband George and son Antonio. She is very happy to continue her involvement in furthering SQACC’s mission.

Sharon L. Haeflinger - Specialty Food Buyer at The Andersons Inc. Sharon has worked for the Andersons for 24 years. Being a food buyer allows Sharon to express many of her passions, food, travel and working with people to accomplish a goal. She is currently enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a Health Counselor. Sharon lives in Perrysburg with her husband John, daughter Lauren and dog Jake.


Thelma Rodriguez-Winter - Thelma Rodriguez-Winter is a community focused volunteer/activist. After receiving her B.S. in Environmental Biology from the University of Toledo, she held a variety of leadership roles regionally and at the State level. Thelma now remains focused on the Sofía Quintero Art & Cultural Center and on obtaining a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Toledo.
